Op. 2, No. 2

Composer Notes

In writing this prelude, I enjoyed creating a feeling of frenetic energy that keeps building throughout the piece. It starts with a single-note, chromatic melody which gives way to sixths and eventually octaves in the right hand. Meanwhile, the left hand enjoys a chromatic figure all of its own. There is a dance-like feeling to the piece; not a stately court dance, but a wild, almost manic feeling of abandon that does not subside until the dancer collapses at the end in utter exhaustion.
